it is not finished, 2018, steel, wire, acrylic, photographic mural, and annotated photograms
it is not finished, 2018 - an installation for Good News, Ralph Arnold Gallery, Loyola University
There is urgency and agency in creating space for wonder- as wonder and curiosity generate possibility, generate new knowledge. That is what we aim to do as artists and educators. This is what is imperative at an institution like Loyola.
For this exhibition (as is true for most of my installations) there are three components - a wall mural, a mobile and framed photographs. Three is a magic number indeed. I am using the triangle and the triptychs to map interrelatedness. The precariousness of balance is the beautiful metaphor embedded in the mobile. A mobile has to be constructed from the bottom up - testing balance at each tier.
